Office of Audits
The SIGPR Office of Audits has the mission to conduct audits of loans, loan guarantees, and other investments made by Treasury under any program established by Treasury under Division A of the CARES Act and to perform audits of the management by Treasury of programs established under Division A of the CARES Act. The SIGPR Office of Audits will operate under the authorities and responsibilities of the Inspector General Act of 1978. See CARES Act § 4018(c)(3).
These duties include making recommendations to agency leadership to promote economy and efficiency in agency administration, prevent and detect fraud and abuse, and facilitate the identification and prosecution of participants in fraud or abuse. Audits, reviews, and other services will be performed in accordance with the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and the Council of Inspector General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Quality Standards for Inspection and Evaluation as appropriate.
The Office of Audits will work in close partnership with the other members of the SIGPR team, the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC), other offices of inspector general, and other entities of the federal government as necessary to meet its statutory mission.
